ANBIMA celebrates 25 years of self-regulation with a look to the future
Last Tuesday (5th), the commemorative event of the 25 years of ANBIMA self-regulation took place in Sao Paulo. The event gathered more than 160 people from the market to celebrate the milestone and participate in a debate focusing on the future of self-regulation.
Two and a half decades ago, the first code of good practices in the capital market was born, created with the purpose of fostering the business environment through rules to increase agents’ confidence.

The initiative was led by a group of professionals who were, above all, idealists. Many were present at our breakfast, alongside many others who today lead discussions in our forums, committees, councils and working groups.
João Pedro Nascimento, president of CVM, opened the event by talking about the challenges that regulation and self-regulation face. He highlighted the importance of agreements with ANBIMA and the uniqueness of the internationally recognized Association’s self-regulation model.
Afterwards, we talked about the past, present and future of self-regulation, with the participation of Carlos André, our president, and Alfredo Setubal, former president of ANBID and one of the model’s creators. The conversation was mediated by Zeca Doherty, our CEO. Carlos André, nosso presidente, e com Alfredo Setubal, ex-presidente da ANBID e um dos idealizadores do modelo. O papo foi mediado por Zeca Doherty, nosso diretor-executivo.
To close the celebration, we presented a first-hand documentary with the history and evolution of self-regulation, told by those who built this two-and-a-half-decade journey of success.
